Lucas Moody is Chief Information Security Officer at Astera Labs, where he leads the company’s security and IT functions to protect Astera Labs’ products, customers, and infrastructure as the company scales its position in AI connectivity.
Lucas approaches security from engineering roots and first principles. His career has been built on the conviction that security exists to enable the business to thrive, not to slow it down, and that the discipline is most effective when it is woven into the DNA of how a company designs, builds, and operates. He is fluent in the language of the business and a steward of the technology underneath it, and applies both lenses to the work of scaling security and IT through periods of rapid change.
Prior to Astera Labs, Lucas served as Chief Information Security Officer at Alteryx, a technology company that develops software in analytics, data management, workflow automation and AI where he built a world-class security organization where he was responsible for threading security into product, developing a culture of security engineering, secured enterprise and product ecosystems and supported enablement of sales through strengthening the secure foundations of the company.
Earlier in his career, Lucas was Head of Security Technology at Twitter, CISO at Rubrik, and CISO at Palo Alto Networks. He also held senior security and engineering positions at eBay/PayPal, Intuit, KPMG, and Oracle. Across more than two and a half decades of leadership, he has worked across security operations, risk management, security engineering, fraud prevention, forensics, and threat intelligence, and has scaled security functions through hyper-growth, IPO, and enterprise transformation cycles.
Lucas is recognized for architecting organizations that match the stage of the business they support, and for his focus on culture, leadership development, and technical talent. He understands both the fundamentals of how businesses scale and the specific tactics threat actors use to exploit that scale, and has spent his career helping engineering, product, and executive teams navigate the tradeoffs between the two.
Lucas brings technical depth, business judgment, and a builder’s mindset to the work of securing companies through their fastest periods of growth. He is equally focused on the systems he protects and the teams and culture he builds to protect them.
