What to Expect From the Hiring Process

Application Review

Your background is reviewed for role alignment, depth of experience, and whether your resume reflects work you can discuss clearly and credibly.

Recruiter Screen

Usually a 15–30 minute conversation covering your background, interest in Astera Labs, high-level fit, logistics, timeline, and any active deadlines. For some regions or roles, this step may be moved later or skipped.

Phone Screen

A 30–45 minute interview with a hiring manager or technical leader focused on communication, core fit, technical or functional competence, and problem solving.

Panel Interview

Typically 3–4 interviews by team members and cross-functional stakeholders (often 45 minutes each). Topics may include technical skills, leadership, cross-functional work, and team fit.

Offer

If there is strong alignment, the process concludes with an offer conversation and recruiter-guided next steps.

Global Candidate Note

Astera Labs aims to provide a consistent candidate experience globally, but some details may vary slightly by region, including scheduling, interview format, language, or logistics.

APAC (including India, China, Taiwan, Singapore, and Vietnam): In some APAC offices, especially for technical roles, the process may lean more heavily on one-on-one technical interviews and HR discussions may come later in the process. Candidates should review interview schedules carefully, be punctual, and be prepared for interviews that may fall outside standard working hours. While local language support may be available, many technical interviews are still conducted primarily in English.

EMEA (including Israel and Germany): In parts of EMEA, candidates may see a different technical interview structure than in the U.S. In Israel, for example, the process may include two technical interviews in addition to HR and screening conversations, each led by a leader and often lasting about 90 minutes. Clear technical details about the interview process, format, and location can be especially helpful in advance, and most interviews are conducted in Hebrew.

Across all offices, written and verbal communication should remain respectful of local language and regional norms, and the experience should stay professional, inclusive, and fair to all candidates. Astera Labs’ values, vision, and purpose should feel consistent globally, even when regions add local detail to the process.

Final Advice

Bring your authentic self. Come prepared. Know your work well. Be ready to think out loud, go into detail, and explain how you solve problems. Strong candidates at Astera Labs demonstrate depth, honesty, curiosity, adaptability, and the potential to make a meaningful contribution. Good luck!
